Little White Dress

Hi everyone,

We all have a favorite little black dress, but a little white dress is also a fashion staple that we should all have and equally love. Traditionally, white dresses are often reserved for special occasions like graduations, bridal showers and weddings etc, but I think it’s time for this versatile piece to get more attention and use. This design from MSGM has asymmetric ruffled details which adds a fun element to this stunning dress. I styled this dress with white peep-toed pump and I chose a vintage Gucci purse to complete my look. This dress is currently on sale or it could be rented through rent the runway for 4 or 8 days.

For Pleat’s Sake!

Hello everyone,

There’s nothing like a dress that moves like a dream. This stunning number is so flattering. It hugs you in all the right places, and the bottom half flares out into beautiful pleats. The color block on this dress is unlike anything I’ve seen. The floral half adds enough drama to elevate the design of the dress without overwhelming the black half. I accessorized with a light blue Tea Rose crossbody and simple black block heel sandals.

Now, let’s talk about this amazing park. I stumbled upon it on a friend’s Facebook page and I was shocked that this gem was less than 30 minutes away from me. It’s called Holliday Park and it is located on the north side of Indianapolis. We will definitely be going back to visit.

Hello everyone,

I don’t know if I want to shimmy all day or do the cha-cha-cha in this beautiful jumpsuit. I instantly fell in love with the design. Its colorful floral pattern and the sweetheart neckline add a level of sweetness to this playful jumpsuit. The upper part fits like a corset, so you can definitely go without a bra. I went with simple accessories like this neutral clutch and dusty rose sandals to complete my outfit. The brand, Finders Keepers, is an Australian women’s fashion label, but you can buy their clothes at American retailers like Nordstrom and ASOS. The jumpsuit is no longer available in this pattern, but you can rent it for 4 or 8 days through RENT the RUNWAY. It is still available for purchase in black. I would recommend going up a size because this jumpsuit runs small.

Stripes + Ruffles

Hello everyone,

My inspiration for this blog post comes from Zimmermann Spring 2017 RTW collection. I love ruffles because it adds a little dash of drama to any outfit. This skirt has EVERYTHING! It has all the frills without being too fussy. The combination of vertical stripes to elongate the body and ruffles to add volume, might make this skirt intimidating for some people, but it is really such a delight to wear. I added a white graphic tee, simple black sandal, and a vintage Gucci clutch purse to complete my look.

Spring Awakening

Hello everyone,

It has been exactly a year since my last blog post. I have been preoccupied with raising a beautiful baby boy (see @runwayinspired on instagram for more details). Motherhood has completely changed my life and I’m better for it. It definitely has its ups and downs. I feel like every time I figure things out, something else changes and then I have to learn to adapt to the new thing…sigh. It took me a while before I can finally tell myself “girl, you got this”. I can handle the roles of wife, mother, optometrist, and also have a semi-functioning social life. I just have to prioritize and take it step by step. I also have an amazing support system, i.e. my husband, my mom, and my in-laws.

I am very happy to be able to resume my fashion blog. I must confess, it was very hard to feel fashionable while I was handling spills, cleaning spit up, and having him constantly cling to me. But as my little guy gets older and with a better routine, I’m starting to have a little more time to myself. So let’s go back to talking about clothes, shall we?

It’s spring time and you can’t talk about spring fashion without florals. My cute floral chiffon dress with ruffled trims was purchased at BCBGMAXAZRIA last summer and I finally just got the chance to wear it. The dress is no longer available, but I have attached a similar style below. I added neutral accessories to complete my look.

Thanks for reading and happy mother’s day to all the moms and moms-to- be.

Maternity-Friendly Styles

I’m going to begin this post by clarifying a main point, none of the clothes posted below are maternity clothes.  During my first trimester, the last thing on my mind was shopping and clothes.  I was truly in a fashion rut and I just wanted to get through the days.  It was during my second trimester that I started to feel like myself again. I had a cute little baby bump and I was glad that my clothes still fit.  However, I still had no desire to go shopping, but I began to browse online for maternity clothes.  To say I was uninspired with the clothes I found would be an understatement.  To be honest, I found the most of the clothes boring, matronly, and they all pretty much looked the same.  However, I found an awesome brand of maternity leggings called Preggo Leggings and I have say, they are the most comfortable pairs of leggings I have ever worn. The soft and stretchy design fits comfortably over my growing belly and It stays up.  I began them around 28th weeks and they have been a lifesaver.  I stumbled upon HATCH and found some really cute options.  The only issue I had with the pieces I found was that I could not justify paying the price for clothes I would only wear for a few months.  I also found an online store called NINE IN THE MIRROR, who offers maternity clothes from designers such as Valentino, Alexander Wang, Lanvin, 3.1 Phillip Lim and so on.  What I like the most about NINE IN THE MIRROR is that they offer clothes you can wear pre and post-partum, but again, the price turned me off. ASOS actually have cute maternity clothes at affordable prices, but I’m more interested in pieces I could invest in and wear again after giving birth.

So I went on a mission to find cute clothes that are maternity-friendly from some of my favorite stores, clothes that I could still wear postpartum, and most importantly, clothes I could invest in without feeling guilty.  I call them maternity-friendly because they have room to accommodate a growing baby bump.  The dress I wore for my baby shower (see “Oh Baby”) is from Banana Republic.  Below are some of my favorites from Anthropologie, Banana Republic, BCBGMAXAZRIA and Neiman Marcus (Halston Heritage and Tanya Taylor Designs).

Thanks for reading and Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms and moms-to-be!

Hi everyone!  It’s been a while.  Took some time off to focus on other aspects of my life. So many things have changed since my last blog post.  We are having a BABY!  I am so excited, but to be honest, a little nervous.  I wanted to share pictures from my amazing tea party themed baby shower.  It was organized by my wonderful mother-in-law and sister-in-law at the CakeBakeShop in Indianapolis.  I’ll be keeping you all posted on my pregnancy journey, what worked for me, and what I’ve learned so far.

Modern Lace

We were shopping on 5th Avenue in NYC when we came across this dress in the window at Karen Millen.  The modern and geometric lace detail of the dress made me fall in love with it.  I was first introduced to Karen Millen by a good friend of mine while in college, but their clothes were a little pricey for my college student budget.  I also like how the lace is layered over contrasting blue fabric. I wanted the dress to be the main focus, so I added a black clutch and black block-heeled sandals.

The inspiration for my outfit came from the jumpsuit below featured on Antonio Berardi’s pre-fall 2016 collection.  There is nothing like a good jumpsuit that fits you in all the right places.  I prefer the sweetheart neckline of the H&M piece and I love how the bottom fits loosely before tapering off.  I completed my look with black and gold accessories.

New York State of Mind

I just returned from an amazing trip to New York City. I can totally understand why people move to this crazy, but exciting place. It took me a few hours to adjust to the sensory overload, but after that I was hooked. The loud noises, crowded spaces, visually stimulating landscape, and fresh air mixed with the aroma from food trucks and street corner garbage became my new normal and I loved it. John and I went to the Big Apple primarily for a wedding, but we extended our trip for a few days. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt on 42nd Street in Manhattan. Our hotel was conveniently located next to Grand Central Station and across from the Chrysler building. We grabbed a quick bite from a nearby Grecian food truck and explored Grand Central Terminal. We hurried back to the hotel to get ready for a party organized by Katie and Colin, the amazing bride and groom, at The Pavilion in Union Square Park.

The following day, we had breakfast at Sandwicherie, went shopping on 5th Avenue, ate at Eataly (by the Flatiron building), and walked around Madison Square Park. A bus took us to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, where the beautiful wedding took place.

The next day we tried to fit as many NYC landmarks as we could in one day. Started the day with a spicy hot dog from a street vendor. We visited Bryant Park, New York Public Library, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center and Central Park. We had a late lunch at Rue 57 Brasserie Parisienne et Sushi Bar and took a taxi back to the hotel. We ended the day at Sakagura, a tapas-style Japanese Restaurant in Midtown. The place was hard to find, but it was definitely worth it.

My overall experience on this trip was fantastic. I visited places that I’ve always wanted to see. I met some of John’s East Coast relatives for the first time and I immediately fell in love with them. I had some of the most amazing food, and it was great to witness the union of Katie and Colin.

It’s been fun NYC! Goodbye until we meet again.
