Feeling warm and cozy

Happy new year! It’s finally starting to feel like winter in Indiana. We had a few inches of snow last week and I had to drive to work in it. I have been living in the midwest now for almost 8 years and I still dread driving in snow. So when the weather outside is frightful, I take pictures inside where I feel warm and cozy. I love textures because they add extra elements that can elevate any piece of clothing. The white and navy stitches on this sweater are arranged to create dots which complement the vertical lines of the corduroy pants. The beret also has interwoven black and gold threads to add color and drama to what would have been an ordinary beige hat. Don’t get me wrong, I appreciate simple fabrics as well. I just prefer when clothes have textures and patterns.

The Perfect Cape

I believe outerwear should not only be functional, it also has to make a statement. I am a little obsessed with coats and people who know me would attest to that. My fascination with capes began two years ago and it has taken me over a year to find the perfect cape. I saw a couple I liked online, but they were either too expensive, had bad reviews, or they were from questionable websites that I wasn’t so sure about. A friend of mine sent me a link to this beautiful wool cape from J.Crew back in August, but I did not purchase it right away due to mixed online reviews. I went to my local J.Crew store to try it on and the rest, as they say, is history. Unfortunately this cape is no longer available online or in store. If cost is not an issue, J.Crew offers this lovely cashmere cape and a budget friendly option from J.Crew  factory. Many designers showed some version of cape outerwear in their fall 2015 runway collections. I really like the two capes featured below, the black one from Dolce & Gabbana and the dusty rose cape from Nanette Lepore.

Blush Pink & Black

I was looking through the Pre-Fall 2016 runway collections online at vogue.com and the first designer I selected was Michael Kors. I’ve liked Michael Kors since his Project Runway days and I’m always excited to see what he has to offer. I seriously love all the outfits featured on his pre-fall 2016 collection and the two outfits below inspired my look today. I love the contrast of black with a soft feminine color like blush pink. And who does not love a pleated skirt?

Have a lovely weekend and thanks for reading!

Styling a Trench Coat

Hi everyone,

The weather has been fairly decent for the past few days, so this is the perfect time to wear a trench coat. A trench coat is a closet staple. Everyone should have one. I recommend starting with neutral colors like black, ivory or camel/tan/biege. Once you have those, then you can add other fun colors or patterns. Every designer has featured their version of trench coats on the runway, but the most notable is Burberry Prorsum. Burberry has perfected the design and branded itself so well, that when most people think of trench coats, Burberry comes to mind. I styled my MICHAEL Michael Kors trench coat in 4 ways.

1. I wore the coat unbuttoned and tied the belt securely around my waist.

2. I tied the belt into a bow at the back to create a form fitting style.

3. I secured all the buttons and belted the coat as designed.

4. Wore it loosely over my shoulders.

Holiday Style in Black & Gold

I just love the holiday season. I enjoy the music, the decorations, celebrating with loved ones and the food…yum! I also love the glitzy/metallic fashion and yes, even the ugly Christmas sweaters. They can be charming if done tastefully, if nothings else, they make me laugh. My style today was inspired Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2014 collection. This look can translate easier from work to holiday party.

Happy Holidays!

Winter Wonderland

Hello everyone!!! I’m going to start by introducing myself. My name is Linda and I love fashion. My goal is to draw inspiration from the runway into everyday style. Today, I was influenced by Oscar de la Renta FALL 2014 RTW. Enjoy…
